The easiest dessert... EVER

So it has been a while.  I have been busy, okay?  I am sorry... I should still be making time to post, but between work and life, things have gotten very very busy.  I went to Romania.  That is in another post.  I have been sick.  I got an article published at work (woo hoo!).  There have been weddings.  There have been babies. (p.s. congrats everyone with weddings and babies!) Its just been jammed packed.

So today I thought I would come back with something simple.  Because, who doesn't love simple?  Right?  This dessert has only TWO ingredients: a banana and some brown sugar.  What?  Yeah.  Its that simple.

The first thing you will need though, is a kitchen torch.  Do you have one? You should get one.  Now.

FIRE! FIRE! heh heh heh...

Once you have bought one of the greatest kitchen devices you will ever own, the rest is simple.  First get some bananas.
This is well before banana bread stage bananas.  You want to use perfect ripeness.
Next peel and slice the bananas in half the long way.

These bananas are really long for some reason.
Next sprinkle brown sugar on the cut halves.  Be sure not to sprinkle too thick. Then spread it out to cover each surface.

Then its TORCH TIME!  This is like magic.  Simply run the torch over the brown sugar long enough to let it melt.  Do not let it bubble too long, or the sugar will burn.  Burned sugar doesn't taste too good.

Watch the magic happen when the torch makes the sugar caramelize
You will get a sugar shell on the bananas similar to that on creme brulee.  And voila!  You are all done.  So what do you do with these bananas?

Crunchy, sugary goodness
Well, you can eat these as is.  Or you can make an amped up banana split with them.  A scoop of vanilla ice cream, some chocolate sauce and whipped cream... delish!
