Welcome to Tort(e)

So here it is.  The first entry in a blog that I hope I can keep up with.  I am going to be honest.  I have tried to keep up a blog a few times.  I am hoping that since this blog will be about something I am passionate* about, I will be better at keeping up with it.

I suppose a little bit about this blog would be a good place to start.  I love baking.  I know, I know... there are a million baking blogs out there.  I am hoping that this one will be a little different, as I make my way through a wish list of things I want to make and master without any formal training.  Its just me, some internet recipes, several hundreds of hours of food network watched and my kitchen.  With my trusty husband and cat to act as taste testers.**

The reason I called this blog Tort(e) is because I am also a lawyer.  I have always had this fantasy**** that one day I will give up the world of law and open up a bakery called Tort(e).  See, its a  play on words... a torte is a dessert... a tort is a legal claim.  Its funny and clever to me at least.

So sit back, read along and lets get on with this blog!

*passionate: not passionate enough to give up my lawyerly career, but I love it almost enough to do that.
** Husband will eat almost anything.  All you animal lovers, no worry, the cat will NOT get any chocolate and will only get tiny tastes of things he may like***.
*** the cat likes carbs.  Its weird.  He also likes dairy.  Dairy loaded with carbs is his favorite.  He will come running when he hears the reddi whip can going and then beg for a tiny dot of whipped cream. Once he gets it, he is a happy camper.
**** I think every lawyer has this same fantasy.  Its like they teach it to you in law school.  I think it has something to do with the fact that baking is so different from writing a contract.  Not that I write contracts.  Its the ultimate give-up-materialism-and-do-what-you-love scenario...
